Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 29, 2026
This policy explains what information Edugram collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
Overview
Edugram ("Edugram", "we", "us") is a note-sharing app for students and teachers. This Privacy Policy applies to the Edugram website and mobile app (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.
Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information. When you create an account — including by signing in with Google — we collect your email address, display name, username, and any profile details you add, such as your bio, avatar, role (student or teacher), interests, and website.
- Content you create. The notes, captions, images, book pages, PDFs, comments, collections, highlights, reactions, and direct messages you post or send through the Service.
- Usage information. Basic analytics about how the Service is used — for example screens viewed, features used, and general device and browser information — collected through Google Analytics for Firebase.
- On-device data. Some preferences and, when you use the app without an account (demo mode), your activity are stored locally in your browser or device storage and are not sent to our servers.
How we use your information
- To provide and operate the Service — accounts, your feed, messaging, and notifications.
- To personalise the material you see based on your interests and who you follow.
- To keep the community safe, including handling blocking and reports.
- To communicate with you, such as password-reset emails and important service notices.
- To understand and improve how the Service is used.
How your information is shared
- With other users. Your profile and the notes you post may be visible to other people on Edugram. If your account is public, this content can be viewed by anyone, including on the web. Setting your account to private limits your notes and activity to your followers. Direct messages are visible to the people in the conversation.
- With service providers. We use trusted providers to run the Service (see below). They process data on our behalf and only as needed to provide their service.
- For legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the Service.
- We do not sell your personal information.
Service providers
Edugram relies on the following third-party services:
- Google Firebase — authentication (including Google Sign-In), the Cloud Firestore database, and analytics. Handled by Google under the Google Privacy Policy.
- Supabase — storage for files you upload, such as note media and avatars. Handled under the Supabase Privacy Policy.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete account, which removes your account, profile, and username; your notes, follows, and messages will no longer be accessible. You can also clear locally stored demo data from Settings. Some information may remain in backups for a limited period or where retention is required by law.
Your rights and choices
You can view and update most of your information directly in the app through your profile and settings, and you can delete your account as described above. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights — such as access, correction, deletion, or portability of your personal data under laws like the GDPR or CCPA. To make a request, contact us using the details below.
Children's privacy
Edugram is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
Security
We use reputable providers and access controls, including database security rules, to help protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
